Putting the finishing touches on my project but I have a few small bugs to work out.

Processed all of the scans I made while I was home in CT. Half of them came out okay, not the best quality due to uneven lighting. I also finished editing the video segments that go along with the models.

Trying to create my Unity space. Having a really difficult time creating triggers which will allow the video to pop up from my objects. I’m trying to establish a workflow that I can follow once I have all of the videos edited and objects added. This is my first time using unity so it’s been very challenging for me.

Finally finished capturing all of my old HI8 video tapes today and started organizing the footage into the sections that will be linked to objects in my virtual space.

I plan on creating a virtual space that links objects from my childhood to my old home video footage. I will create a virtual room filled with objects which you can walk around, and when you touch an object a home video will pop up for you to watch. I have a 3d model of myself and have a projector scanned that I will merge with my model.

I’ve been capturing my old HI8 tapes this week and hope to finish the box of them by next weekend.

Watching the videos has been flooding my brain with old memories. There are a few objects that I’ve seen that I still have at my house, so I plan on scanning those objects when I go home on April 3. I will also scan a room in my house while I’m there, and try to gather any pieces of my past that I can use for my project.

Got Some interesting results from the scan we did last week, taking frames of a video. I think it has something to do with blurry photos and a few strange angles. Half of my face came out clean and detailed, but there is also some crazy fragments of my face behind me in a cloud.

Agisoft PhotoscanAlternative to 123D Catch

I’ve been trying to get high quality models using this software.

The Software has been very accurate with aligning the photos

It generates a mesh…

Then you have to build the textures…

And then you have your model…

It catches small details like these engraved numbers in the skull

This is the catalog number on the jaw of another model

When I bring it into Maya, the detail is lost. The polygon count is so low, it’s very triangular and looks worse than my 123D Catch models.

Moving on:

I recently got my camera back from Connecticut so I will be experimenting with my 60D, trying to get more detailed models. I plan on making models using a higher number of photos. I also picked up some lights so I will be experimenting with finding the best way to light my objects. I also found a turntable that I’d like to test out. This way I can turn the object itself instead of walking around it. This way I can use a tripod for the camera, get steadier images, multiple angles (High, medium and low).
